Defund the French police

A law is to be voted in France to protect the police in protests: it is known as “article 24”; under this article, reporters can no more realize a footage of demonstrations. This is contrary to freedom of expression.

French people are protesting against this article. Filming  the police can help in case of violence: they are fully responsible for their acts before the law.

And the violence of the police is real. If the text is signed into law, the  French police will have the power of the American one: here is the reason of the protests.

Alexis Sciard / IP3; Paris, France, November 28, 2020 – Clashes took place during the demonstration in the center of the capital to protest against the “global security” draft law, which Article 24 would criminalise the publication of images of on duty police officers with the intent of harming their “physical or psychological integrity”. Dozens of rallies are planned on November 28 against a new French law that would restrict sharing images of police, only days after the country was shaken by footage showing officers beating and racially abusing a black man. As  a citizen and a human rights activist, I call for the abolition of this article 24.

Everyone can demonstrate freely, and reporters must do their job without surveillance from the State.
